Melinda C. O' Rourke, M.D. and her staff take pride in delivering the finest and most up-to-date treatment available, while at the same time, providing patients with personal, efficient, and friendly care.
Dr. O' Rourke received her Bachelor of Sciences degree from the University of Colorado (CU), Boulder, in 1980 and her M.D. degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine in 1984. She is a member of the academic honorary societies, Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Omega Alpha. Dr. O'Rourke continued post-graduate training at CU, completing her Internship and Residency programs in 1985 and 1990, respectively. From 1985 to 1987 Dr. O'Rourke was engaged in general practice and active in ophthalmic research at CU. Her research was published in Archives of Ophthalmology and the Journal of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus and presented at professional meetings in Vancouver, British Columbia and Oxford, England.
Board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology since November 1991, Dr. O'Rourke practiced with the Eye Surgery Center of Colorado for 15 years before opening the Northwest Eye Center in October 2005. She is an accomplished surgeon, treats glaucoma and diabetic eye disease, and provides routine eye care, as well as LASIK and PRK. She also performs cosmetic eye procedures and has trained with Dr. Michael Rabkin, an
oculoplastic surgeon from Los Angeles. Dr. O'Rourke is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery.
Dr. O' Rourke volunteers at the Stout Street Eye Clinic, assisting the homeless in metro Denver. She and husband, Paul, are also active participants with Vision Health International, and over the past 16 years have participated in countless projects providing indispensable eye care to those in need in Latin America.
Married since 1984, Dr. O'Rourke has two children, Davis and Catherine. She enjoys running (with her grand puppy, Stella), skiing, yoga and traveling to places where she doesn't understand the language.

Nolan P. Hathaway, M.D.earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Kalamazoo College (Michigan) in 2002, and his Doctorate of Medicine from Michigan State University in 2006. He is a member of multiple academic honor societies, including Alpha Omega Alpha. Internship and Ophthalmology residency were completed at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, MI, one of the largest and busiest hospitals in the nation. During this time, his research was published in Ophthalmology.
Dr. Hathaway became board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology in 2011, having passed the exam in the 95th percentile. He has practiced comprehensive ophthalmology since 2010, before joining the Northwest Eye Center. He is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Colorado Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons.
As an accomplished surgeon, Dr. Hathaway specializes in cataract surgery, and macular degeneration treatment, and treats glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy. He also enjoys providing routine and preventive eyecare.
Dr. Hathaway enjoys spending time with his lovely wife and adorable daughter, cooking, and traveling.

Dr. Melinda O'Rourke, and her husband, Paul, vice-president of VHI, have volunteered on numerous VHI ophthalmology trips to Latin America since 1999. There will be many trips to come. Since 1985 VHI has provided—free of charge—15,087 eye exams, 13,080 pairs of eyeglasses, and 3,468 sight-restoring surgeries in seven countries. A portion of the profits from the Northwest Eye Center and Essence Laser & Wellness are donated to Vision Health International. Thank you for making our work possible!
